The name Ruedisueli appeared for the first time at the Netherlands at 1782, at the city Maastricht, in a book that was wrote by a Swiss Army Minister. It means that he was a Swiss soldier who was married to a Dutch girl at Maastricht. The original way of spelling was: Rüdisühli.

The name of our progenitor for the Netherlands branch and for a part off the American branch was: Jacob Rüdisühli and he was married to Anna Barbara Kerskens. Jacob was born at Switzerland, at the village Sax on April 6, 1754 and died at Breda (Netherlands )augustus 19, 1813.

This name, Rüdisühli, was written down for the first time at Switzerland, in a church record book of the parish of Sax at 1634 and a history book, what I have bought when I visit Sax during a vacation, told us that the name came up for the first time at 1486. At a letter named the"Frumsberger Letter" the name Rüdisühlin appeared. This letter was written by Fridrich Ludwig Fryhern von den Hohen Sax, Herr zu Sax und Vorstegk.

Investigation until this moment, it appears that Thomann Rüdisühli, born at Sax at Switzerland, married with Anna Catharina Gross, is the progenitor of the families at the Netherlands and also for a part of the families at the USA. His birth date is not found until this moment but it must be before 1592.Thomann deceased at the year 1649. His wife was born before 1594. Anna Catharina was deceased December 21, 1661.

The name of the father of Jacob Rüdisühli is known. His name is Adrian Rüdisühli, born at Sax November 29, 1730 and he is deceased January14, 1757. Adrian Rüdisühli was married with Magdalena Rüdisühli. She was a wedow of Andreas Ostermeier. Jacob was a child by a previuos marrige but was legitimate by Adrian.

At the same time that Thomann Rüdisühli lived, there was a second Thomann Rüdisühli who was married with Anna Torklerin. To prevent confusion of tongues, Thomann Rüdisühli who was married with Catharina Gross, was named the old. Thomann Rüdisühli who was married with Anna Torklerin, is the progenitor of the Pensilvania Rudisill familie. Grandchilds of Thomann are emigrated into the Phaltz, Germany and from there emigrated via the Netherlands to the USA. Weyrich Rüdisile with his wife and children emigrated to Pensilvania USA on May 13, 1737. If you wanted more information about this family you can visit the home page of The Rudisill Family Association. Ted Rudisill is the President of this Association: www.rudisill.org.

Today there are 6 family's living at Sax (Switzerland), but at Amden (Switzerland) there are more family's. Sax is a small village that belongs to the city Senwald - Frümsen.

The name Rüdisühli is at the Netherlands a clerical error. First at Maastricht, at 1781 and later at Breda but also at Amersfoort. The name became the sure spelling of Ruedisueli. The clerical error at Amersfoort was related to a mariage of the grant son of Jacob at februari 25, 1857. The name became the spelling of Ruedisulj. This name is still existing at the Netherlands. ( Thanks Willemijn Ruedisulj ) The name arised from two first names, Rüdi and Ühli according my history book. The coat of arm on the front page come also from this book.

Investigation has proved that the family coat of arm arised round 1940. The white part of the coat of arm is very old and is arised from a Home Sign or Home Marking that was still used at the beginning of 1800. The coat of arm visualized an Arrow and Bow and the characters R and S in reverse. This wapen was at that time very important because at the mountens the eagle and the vulture are looking for sheeps and chickens. The arrow and bow is also symbol for the truth and means security and handiness. The character R and S in reverse means Rudi and Sax. At 1940 it became a family coat of arm. To the Home sign is added the green color of the earth with the rounding of the mounten and the two stars are a sign of fertility.

At that time, the Home Sign was used to show what your property was. Every thing that belongs to you was signed up with your Home Mark. Every Rüdisühli or Rudisill or Ruedisueli may use this family coat of arm.

At the USA not only the name Rudisill exist but also the name Ruedisueli. Those who spelling the name Ruedisueli are related to the family at the Netherlands. At the second half of 1800, between 1850 and 1900, two Ruedisueli's are emigrated to the USA. They are writing there name like we do.
